How to Make Goat Leg Soup

Goat legs are also called “Goat trotters”. And the soup made by it is one of my favorite types of soup which tastes better when cooked with lentils and served with rice.

The goat leg soup has so many health benefits. It is high in proteins and gives the body all the necessary proteins that help in bodybuilding. Consuming goat leg soup 2-3 times a week is really helpful for calcium deficiency, weak bones, painful joints, etc.

Goat leg soup is popular in many Pakistani and Indian Communities and goes by the name Goat Paya soup there. The Paya soup can be made by using either goat legs, beef, chicken and lamb legs.

The soup is preferred on winter days or when someone gets sick. But it can also be enjoyed as a side dish to your meal.

Ingredients to Make Goat Leg Soup

This goat leg soup is considered an amazing remedy to cure fever, cough,  hands and limb pain as well.  And the spices used here gives an added flavor to the recipe.

Let’s look into the ingredients that we will be using to make the soup:-

(INGREDIENT)

There are so many ways to make goat leg soup, but here we are going with the easy one.

But, before diving into the recipe, you need to be sure that the goat legs are clean and there's no hair in it. So wash the goat legs 3-4 times before cooking it.

Now heat a large pot or pressure cooker (you can also use a slow cooker for this recipe) and put some cooking oil in it. Add some green cardamom, bay leaf, black cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, and fry for 20-30 seconds.

Then add onion paste (or finely chopped onions) and cook it for 1 minute. After that, put the garlic ginger paste in the pot and stir it for 1 minute.

When the paste is cooked then add goat leg pieces in the mixture and stir occasionally. Cook it for around 4-5 minutes and put some turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt (as per taste). Continue to stir and cook it for 5-6 minutes.

Last but not the least, add 2 glasses of water to the soup and cook it on low heat for 25-30 minutes and garnish it with the coriander leaves (you can also make the soup by using lentils).

Your refreshing and nutritious soup is ready to serve.
